yes I'd split them now and heap some compost on top top protect the roots and young growth, and remember they are a magnet for snails so you may need to keep a lookout next spring - wonder what colour they will be?
..does no one else think that's an Agapanthus? Hemerocallis grow fleshy roots from tubers below ground.... those look like similiar fleshy roots but from bulbs and the spreading growth in a circular formation doesn't say Daylily to me ... nothing like mine anyway... I think it's a semi evergreen variety that's been hacked back and is trying to sprout again... I wouldn't divide that personally, but maybe cover with pea shingle for winter protection...
aah..ok....I'll not dispute it further, but here's a photo of my Daylily clump just to compare.... perhaps mine is planted deeper but I don't see the 'bulbs' that are in the photo above...
I have both agapanthus and daylilies so have just ventured outside, very white and frosty, to have a look at mine, both just coming through.
Your pic. does look more like a daylily than agapanthus whose leaves grow flat against each other, rather than wrapped around. Agapanthus leaves are flat, day lilies are folded in half, if that helps.

ah yes now I look closer they do look more like lilys
Looks like it could do with a split up to rejuvenate it.

I'll check out both later on Salino but all that old hairy stuff around the base and the shape and colour of the leaves said hemerocallis to me.
