Sweet Peas

bazabaza Posts: 670

Hello Everyone

Been reading a lot about sweet pea flower on the forum.

So i'm gonna give it a go.

Now what i need to know is when to pot the seeds off in the greenhouse and when to prick the leaves off . When to plant them outside and how tall do they grow?

Also thinking about planting them at the bottom of my garden the sun rises behind the fence and is in the garden all day(when it shines that is he he) i'll post a photo see what you think

 Thanks

Baza, have you seen this sweet pea thread? We all use it for advice because David K is a expert and he answers questions on the thread. http://www.gardenersworld.com/forum/the-potting-shed/growing-sweet-peas-2014/2015/520591-10.html

  •  I put my sweet pea seeds in a cold shed in November and they are now about 4 inches high. When spring comes they should have a good strong root system

Baza, best to wait until February - then sow them 3 to a small pot and keep them indoors on your windowsills as they need a little warmth until they've germinated, then put them in the cold greenhouse.

They'll need hardly any water until spring.

When they've got 3 sets of leaves pinch the tip of the plant out.

  • Good tip I had was to cover the top of the pot with clingfilm once you have planted the seeds, and remove when well germinated
