Weighing fruit and veg harvest

in Fruit & veg
Odd one really but I've read a few articles recently that were talking about the weight in tons of harvest from small veg plots.
Wondered if anyone has gone to the trouble to weigh and keep a record of their harvests and if it was useful in any way? (Other than bragging rights lol)

RB I should take more pictures next year, I was so proud of my wheel barrow filling pumpkins and my killer parsnips, still got two rows of them in the ground. To think all I did really was put the seeds in following the instructions on the packet.
Some interesting reading there Edd, it's my plan to keep going with 100% self sufficiency on fresh veg and though it is not vital for us, those facts and figures are food for thought. It will add to the hobby aspect by giving some gauge of success, so I might take the time to jot down some weights and see where our small plot really figures within it all.
I might do that Edd, would be good to meet some local gardeners, seems almost post apocalyptic in our village some times, plain lawns no veg, nobody around during the day. Would be good to see some living breathing people and what they are getting up to in gardens and allotments.
I wouldn't mind some prize money, the garden budget took a big hit buying in three pallets of paving, propagator and lights this year already.
I usually judge quantity of veg from my plot by how full the freezer is and whether I need to buy anything. I'm not sure I would photographs of some things, especially root crops as I have produced some funny looking stuff! All very tasty though.
I took photos of pretty much everything I brought home from t'plot that I grew last year
I often take photos of my best veg (and also my biggest mistakes). I have recently taken up painting, and did a nice "still life" of some beautiful Hooligan squash I grew. Some people in our local art group paint dogs, or trains, or boats, so I think I may make vegetable subjects my speciality, although I can't see many people wanting to commision a portrait of their potatoes or carrots. But it makes sense to paint something you care about, and I love my veg!
So for me it's about quality and beauty rather than quantity.
