Re the strawberries -  as it's mid-winter I would plant them in pots and keep them in a cold greenhouse or coldframe until spring, when you can plant them out in the ground or in bigger pots. image  I'd use a mixture of MPC and soil-based John Innes No. 2.

I've answered your hyacinth query on your other thread. image

    Hi, Dt1967,

    Welcome to the message boards.

You only need to post your Q once, and then, it's helpful to posters if you respond to the replies. No need to keep posting the same Q, if posters know the answer someone will reply.

Sorry, can't help with the hyacinth Q.

  • Your strawberriy plants are not tubers, they are callled plantlets. It is best to only grow on the plantlet nearest the mother plant for best results. Pot each one up individually, put in a protected corner, cold frame etc. and plant out in Spring. JI no. 2 potting compost or any multi purpose compost will be fine. They do not need heat or coddling, they are quite tough.

  • Thank you for the advice, just hope some one can advise re the mouldy bulbs

Stick them in a pot about 4inches deep, probably wont grow now, but whats to lose,  its only a bit of compost. Give it a try.

I have never seen a strawberry plant tuber, they are usually roots, either attached to the mother plant or bare rooted fron GC or nursery.  Can you take a photo. Click on the tree icon and follow insructions.

  • I would put the mouldy bulbs in the garden where they have 2 chances, they will or will not grow.

Keep them away from from any sound bulbs as the mould could spread to the sound ones.
