Delphiniums
in Plants
Anyone growing delphiniums should be putting down slug pellets now, apologies to those who who have convulsions at the sound of slug pellets.
The keel slug, a tiny black b*****d, which lives just below soil level likes to chomp them off just as they produce their succulent, juicy new shoots underground.
It was years before I twigged why my delphiniums kept on disappearing. We forget how early plants start coming into growth below they surface in the Spring.

Thank you for that reminder.
A pleasure.
Delphiniums are one of my favourite plants, the blues especially. Not keen on the muddy pinks/lavenders though. There are some delicious yellow ones as well, stunning amongst the blues.
Joyce i over winter mine in small pots ready for planting out in the spring as soon as i plant them out i put the pellets down i aint putting the effort in gettiing them ready for the slugs to munch on them
i agree the blues are the best colour to look at
As with Lupins as well.
