    Welcome to the forum Hippyness.

On top of the wonderful advice above, I'd suggest you maybe keep a journal? take lots of photos all over the garden over the next year.  I'm sure I'm not the only who said " I'll remember there's one of those there" and then instantly forgot.

It'll help you get a feel for the garden ( you'll have to be in it to do it ) and you'll be able to look at back at something which look unpromising at one time of year, e.g. herbaceous plants now, or a dull evergreen shrub which might burst into flower at another time of year.

You're setting off on a wonderful adventure, enjoy every minute of it and keep us posted.

Welcome to the forumimage that's a brilliant    challengeimage

I was going to suggest taking photos as you go along , take loads and try to do a journal  with dates  and all details that you can , also keep the cold frame this wil come in usefull did you say you have greenhouse  ? And don't do anything drastic for the first year . At this time of the year there could be hedgehogs hibernating in the undergrowth.

I know a lot of these things have been suggested already , but one thing I would ask is if you plan o have bonfires think about the creatures that may be making a home in one as it piles up .this is what we do,make a pile then take from it and make a smaller one afresh with burnable rubbish.so hat any furry,s can scraper away.
