hazel trees
Wonder if anyone has some advice,
I have 3 corylus avellana in the garden 2 in back garden and one in the front. Two were grown from nuts and are about 3 years old the other is shop bought bareroot of about 7 yrs. None of them have had catkins.
Any advice would be appreciated as all books, magazines etc say they really easy bare catkins no bother ???? haven't got much patience at the best of times

I think we get used to things flowering as soon as we get them and forget that shrubs are several years old before we buy them in a GC. If you grow from seed all that waiting is in your time, not the growers'. I expect they'll get round to it soon as Edd says. Watch out for the little female flowers, that's where the nuts grow.

Thanks for advice,
My biggest problem absolutely no patience might be a good new years resolution
Shrubs from seed takes a few years, I've just had the first flowers on something I set seed for about 15 years ago

Flowers and nuts/seeds are the plant reproducing itself - it has to be reasonably mature to do that

I was just about to give up hope and pull them out lol but will calm myself down and leave them to it . Thanks all for the advice
