Vine weevils
Used a vine weevil larvae killer end of the summer last year but still have the grubs in pots, my cyclamen and heuchera's are really suffering. Would nematodes be better and how soon can I use it please

I used Provado Vine Weevil killer together with going out and killing the adults over summer. How often did you apply the vine weevil killer? I was adding it every 2-3 weeks from spring. To date I have not found any further larvae. I would do as Verdun has said as Vine weevil larvae love those plants to death, literally. No reason why you should not continue to use the vine weevil killer over winter on those and other susceptible plants.
Great thanks for the replies. I only used the Provado about 3 times over the summer so maybe not enough.
I have a memory of a post that suggesting standing a pot rim deep in water plus something else perhaps for 24hrs to drown the little devils. Can anyone through any light on this.
And if you can get the Vine Weevil insecticide out of the new bottles in which it is supplied, your are better than I am. In the end I cut off the top of the container with a knife,so that I could pour it out!
There is no such thing as overkill as far as vine weevil is concerened.
I enjoy jumping on the beetles at night, when I can find them, and squashing the grubs, again, when I can find them.
My previous neighbour and I made a joint effort to both treat our pots and containers, on a regulare basis, using Provada, but it is expensive to do because you need to dose by submerging each pot, very regularly and fairly frequently. It did help quite noticeably but did not cure the problem fully.
I have tried grease bands and drip trays full of water, neither of which make much impression. Vine weevils are a nightmare and love anything in a container.
Yes especially as it doesn't work! Going for nematodes this time
