Grow your own beer...
my old man wants to grow his own beer. His birthday is coming up soon so I want to get him what he needs to start him off- do I just needs hops or do I need barley too?
I have looked at a few websites for hop rhizomes but their delivery charges are 
at best. I don't want to get random stuff off ebay for obvious reasons, so can anyone advise where they've got some from or how I can get some very cheaply? Please and thanks 
PS his soil is mainly clay but I can deal with that, I think, or at leaSt get round it. He has a very tall hedge which would be ideal to grow them up against but it would mean that they wouldn't be able to cut the hedge. There is also a near naked hedge which would be a good potential site

Do read up on growing hops Fruitcake as they can quickly overwhelm a garden. You can get some smaller varieties which only grow to 10ft (3m) but most will happily grow to 15-20ft (5-7m) or more!
