cornus dogwood cuttings

I have a dogwood that has lost all its leaves due I think to a weedkiller used too near, but red woods look ok. Looking to take cuttings off this now, will they take? we'll see

They lose their leaves in winter.

If it has lost them due to weedkiller I wouldn't bother with cuttings, the weedkiller will have been absorbed.

Otherwise they should be fine. I find they layer very well if you can get stems down to the groundimage

  • I agree with Verdun - but this is the season to admire those lovely red stems.

If there are some going spare now is a good time to just poke them into the ground and some will almost certainly grow.
