There are some quite similar ones Ravomum, the shape of the bush would give a clue.
C frigidus 'Cornubia' is like a small tree with stunning re berries, C frigidus itself much the same, a bit more restrained in berrying. Both rather angular in growth
C. lacteus, unpruned, is a large shrub with downward sweeping branches.
Those are 2 common ones that have berries now

is it upright of hanging? could be hybridus pendulus
Thanks for the replies, my husband says its a large tree with lots of berries, he's not sure if the branches were downward sweeping, he wants me to get one for our garden so I suppose either would be as good, thanks again
Cornubia is good and tree like
Hybridus pendulus as a tree is grafted and is a weeping tree, It's a ground cover one grated to the top of something else.
C.lacteus is definitely a bush, not so brightly berried.
Google them and see which one you like the look of

I'd certainly add to Nutcutlet's assertion that Cornubia is a corker, esp if you have room to let it do its thing.
Good point about having room Hostafan. If you haven't and you start hacking at them the lose their lovely shape, all of them.

wise words again Nutcutlet. I hate shrubs given the Mr Blobby treatment to " tidy them up a bit "
and cotoneasters just stick their elbows out so you bang your head weeding
Mr Blobby treatment. I like that, describes it exactly. I think some people that see no further than a bright coloured flower, completely oblivious to an ugly shaped shrub.
I once visited a garden where everything was trimmed up like that, looked awful and the owner was really proud

tee hee cutlet,
I've come across many who pride themselves in "how tidy everything is" not a single leaf on the ground , nor twig / stem growing where it actually wants to grow.
You know them too I see
Oh Yes Hostafan. I see a lot of gardens
