green polytunnel
hi all. just a quick question, i want to buy a polytunnel, mostly because i can't afford a greenhouse, but the only ones in my price range are the ones with the reinforced green mesh, basically i want to know if they are any good, will it still work well for an amateur like me

They will blow over, the green rips and the frames buckle, however much re enforcing you do, and we put some stuff around the bottom, concrete strips, long metal poles etc, they will give way. All the stuff was still holding down to bottom edge, the top just folded up. Maybe you are in a sheltered spot then it will be ok, mine wasnt.
If you can get one to stay put, they are good, if you put 6ft. X 2" poles very deep in the ground on all four corners you can fix ropes to the top, or wrap a rope right round it then fix like guy ropes on a tent.
For around £30/40.00 they are probably woth a go, even if only for two years.
my garden is very sheltered, high fences and tall trees all around, we never get any wind in the garden, come the summer its a real nice hot spot
Go for it Peter, in a non windy garden they are very handy, naturally shady and for the time I had mine, I really loved it. Would be as well to put a pole on each corner, there are loops and guy ropes supplied.
They are good price on Ebay, and I bought 4 of these. 2 fit down either side of a 2mt long one. Or if you buy bigger you can get 2 shelf units across the back as well.
