  • Any particular favourites that you grow Garden Maiden? I have some Apache F1's,  Anaheim's and Fresno's to start with.

Fatalii, they are yellow pointed chillis. We did grow Ricotto for the first time last year, they are as big as an apple and very very hot, so my Turkish brother inlaw tells me. It depends what you want. Do you want heat, flavour or productivity. My OH says these are very mild. But we may have 'spares' once they get to a size or we can send you seeds. PM me if you are interested.

  • Thanks very much!

I'll start gettig myself sorted tomorrow and see how far I get then ill drop you a PMimage

i prefer my chilli's very hot! Hotter the better! But being as though I'd be growing some for family members/friend's too, I'm going to try and grow a wide range heat wise.  Flavour would be a bonus, as I'm hoping to make sauces etc really with a lot of kickimage

Hi just saw your name, i' m a big rock fan! I must grow chillies this year, my hubby loves them, last year we did well with courgettes, various leaves, strawberries and tomatoes, i' m very much a flower lover really, but today ordered the potato growing kit from gW mag, good luck, let us know, btw, did you hear apparently plants like black sabbath played to them? More of a whitesnake acdc girl myself!

  • Hey all, sorry for the late reply!

Not to bad thanks Nettles, I'd of liked to have done a bit more but the weather has prevented that. Either everything is frozen or its pouring down... can't win!

    I'll keep you posted!

Rose mummy,  awesome! I didn't know that, but I love Black Sabbath.. In fact AC/DC and White snake are brilliant too. Luckily, I've managed to see all three live.  Looks like my plants are gonna rock out! image

  • I grew chilli Basket of Fire last year. I have some many I do not know what to do with them. I have put some under oil to preserve them, threaded a couple of hundred onto a cotton thread hanging in the kitchen for decoration and dried some. I still have all 3 plants, in full fruit in the conservatory now. This variety only has small fruit but they certainly pack a punch.

  • Great stuff Joyce!  I had read up on this variety and I'm pretty tempted to have a go at growing some. High yielding and heavy hitting... tthat'll do meimage

Hi Logan, Edd's given you a great thread to look at, I've never grown Chilli from seed - BUT! I did get a free packet with a magazine yesterday so just happened to be reading this:

    http://www.southdevonchillifarm.co.uk/info/growing-chillies

Which gives the basics on germinating the seeds. Seems they can be hard to get going but there are things that can be done to improve the chances of germination.
