storing daffodil bulbs

Happy New Year everyone! Mum gave me daffodil bulbs for planting six weeks ago but for various reasons I just didn't get the time to sow them. Is there any way i can store them until the autumn or should I just plant them now anyway - even though it's too late?

Plant them now!  You're not the only one to have left it a bit late, but they'll grow and probably flower just a little bit later than normal, and then they'll flower at the normal time in following years.

There's no way to store them until next autumn - they'll just rot and die.image

Plant them now. Discard any that are soggy or mouldy.

I had a bagful I bought one January in the sale for nearly nothing. Planted straight away, they flowererd a little later than usual thats  all.

For the first year ever I got mine in when recommended in 2014 but they often got bunged in when I was sorting things out and found this 'whatever's in there' bag in a cupboard and often in the new year.  They always popped up eventually.

  • Wahoo, this is great!!! I really thought I was too late and it would have killed me to throw them out.

Family dinner today so am inside but that's my job for tomorrow. Thanks so much for coming back so quick - you're great - have a happy gardening 2015 image x
