Hi,

I have just bought from Lydl a packet of Echalion shallots will they perform as well as seed firm ones? They cost 99p for 14 bulbs 25/40mm in size

    Are they sold for planting or for cooking? If they are sold for cooking they may not shoot if they have been sprayed with a shoot retardant.

    I believe they they are for cooking, they were in the vegetable part of the store.

    I will post the results after I have grown them. I have also asked the same question of a seed company, I will let you know their reply if they do.
