Hi BobTheGardener, thanks for that reply. Ideally i'm trying to do it all by "natural causes" however if I do take the pump route, any idea or pointers of what to search for?
If its not already full, raise the waterbutt. The higher the waterbutt, the greater the pressure. I have one with the output tap at waist height, and as long as I'm watering the roots (ground level) it's OK for up to 20 ft away. Don't know if 20m is achievable though.
Hi Seacrows - thanks for reply. I'm going to raise height of water butt so that tap is around metre from the floor, so this might be sufficient. I was talking to someone about it yesterday and they mentioned making sure there were two taps to use, this helped the air/water pressure, is this the case for you or is it just 1 tap?
It was a black wheelie bin which had been sitting on the pavement at the end of my drive for 3 weeks. I moved it onto the drive for another 3 weeks and then decided nobody wanted it.
Ta Dah, Water butt.
Since wheelie bins, I've noticed lots of old fashioned dustbins at the local recycling centre. Might be worth looking to see if they could be modified to purpose.

Hickster, if you have a battery powered drill, you can get pumps to attach to the chuck for under 10 quid.

I've just got the one tap, but the seal with the downpipe isn't airtight, it certainly leaks when the waterbutt is full.
I had a "water butt" in my last garden.
