This is a plant I grow strictly for photographic purposes.the leaves and stem are very attractive. As is the dark mahogany flower .it has a shiny black spathe. ( think spath is what it named) it measures 36 inches from the start of the flower to the tip.it developed into the flower quickly once it starts .each stage is attractive .only lasts a day before the flower starts to deteriorate. And as others have said IT STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN. Plant at the bottom of your garden and if you have any neighbours or friends who comment on the STINK. Plead ignorance. Ignorance is bliss.
Just one more thing to add , mine isn't evasive, when the flower dies the stink has gone .the first time I grew this I was convinced there was something in my garden that needed a proper burryal I was hunting around the garden for the unfortunate animal . Or in my case the meat from the butchers that had fell out from the shopping which I hadn't missed !
Many thanks for your help. I have looked everywhere but can't seem to find a in flower. Will plant up the bulbs and label accordingly. Must make a note to take some photos next year.
