PVC roofing (the corrugating stuff) over the wooden roof, covered with a perlite/vermiculite/sharp sand/compost mix (30/30/10/30 mix) and planted with sedums topped with washed sharp sand.
My local stockists(Travis Perkins) are even having trouble getting the Onduvilla tiles, they are charging them £44 for delivery! I've been discussing cedar tiles with them and that's the direction we will probably go now. It's going to be much easier, we will bitumen the shed roof then put battens across to nail the tiles to. I'm quite excited, I've always loved cedar and wanted it somewhere where I can watch it slowly turn to that lovely silver grey colour.
Sadly I didn't spot this thread until just now. I agree, the felt used in initial construction is feeble and probably only has a lifespan of a couple of years.
I recently had my summerhouse & shed/workshop re-felted. The process (although a little more expensive than normal felting) is far superior and I received a 25 year written guarantee with mine.
This process involves laying a base felt to the shed roof using heat (after stripping the old felt) to this base felt a heavy mineral felt is added using a blowtorch, the two then bond together....no tacks or nails are used.
That's the drawback with onduline products LL, not many stockists. Our 'local' one is in Kent, we live in Essex, it took some finding too. Have you tried going the other route of contacting onduline directly to find out who the nearest approved stockist is? That might save you the delivery charge.
The local stockists are all listed on the onduline website but neither of those in our area actually stock the tiles. I suppose it's a niche market. Onduline aren't doing their product any favours by charging both Joe public and their stockists such delivery charges. Travis Perkins are a big national builders merchant and you'd think Onduline would want to encourage them to sell it.
Travis of Bolton have actually been very helpful and they can get the cedar shales in without a problem.

I have a kidney off my Hubby (otherwise known as my knight in shining armour)
I spoke to a teccy guy about the Onduvilla tiles last week and was about to order when I discovered that p&p is £36 (Yikes!!)
I am now trying to persuade a local stockist to have them delivered then I can collect them.
I do hope I didn't offend anyone with my kidney joke!
No offence taken on my part Steve

Just another option.

Fair enough LL, their loss not yours
We have some of the roofing felt David K describes. It's very long lasting, undamaged after 10 years. Great for OH's store shed
But for looks I'd go for the cedar shingles. very attractive.
