maggots slugs

dried out my bulbs,,,begonia ect ,

put in my wardrobe only to find little maggots, or similar, what are they please,will they spread over house, in garden now hope they freeze, sorry but itching, thank you to any one that can help, how do i prevent this,,michael

    If you have something like a garage, shed, or unheated greenhouse, I'd leave them in there for a while, If it's going to be really chilly, cover them with some fleece. Your wardrobe is probably a bit too warm for them , they really just need to be " frost free".

    What did the maggots look like? Where they cream with a brown head? If so then they were vine weevil grubs (A common pest of Begonia corms). Clean the corm very carefully and dispose of the maggots, either on the fire or on the bird table. They will not now spread as once they are removed from the corms they have nothing to eat and will die.

                                   the maggots are just a yellow grub, 10 ml long no colour on head, cheers

    Advice still applies, clean the bulbs etc. and store cool and frost free.
