I am growing a lemon tree in a pot in the conservatory. Last year I had a lot of blossom, that did not produce lemons. Lately it has put on a load of new leaf growth but no blossom for lemons. What does it need?
There could be few things wrong with your lemon tree. To get it to bloom and produce flowers and fruit: bring your tree indoors early enough before winter. Allow your tree to reach 60 degrees for a few days to jump start the blooming.
The way you are fertilizing could also harm your tree. Try to fertilize on a regular basis once a month with an even based fertilizer such as 8-8-8. Only fertilize 3 or 4 times a year with nitrogen to help at a little higher rate.
One way to get your plant back on schedule is to leave it dry out for 2 weeks and then water twice as much for 2 to 3 weeks. Then go back to a normal watering schedule. This will stress your plant and allow it to go into a blooming period. Only do this once since over stressing your plant can harm it.

To get blossom, prune any lanky growths back to four inches or so. If you have flowers, pollinate using a small paintbrush, pretending to be a bee.
A dose of citrus feed in the spring may be useful.
