Hyacinths
I bought 4 pots of hyacinth bulbs with 4 bulbs in each pot. I think they are overcrowded with roots coming from the base and around the rim of the pot. Not sure if I should repot them or leave well alone. If I need to repot how deep should I plant bulbs as they already have immature flower spikes. Any advice welcomed. Thanks in advance Kenny

Have you bought them as indoor bulbs, if so just leave them, they store their nutrients in the bulb.
If they are for garden or tub use, they need to be planted deep, but I would think they are for indoors. After they have finished flowering, let them die down in the pots, then dry them off and store. Plant them out in the garden next September.
Hyacinths grown in pots for flowering indoors do get congested roots, but they'll come to no harm and repotting may do more harm than good.
If it looks unsightly you can get some Sphagnum moss from a florist or online and cover the surface of the compost - that'll improve the appearance

After the flowers have finished I leave mine in a cool spot until the worst of the winter weather has passed & then plant them into the garden while the leaves are still green.
Many thanks. I'll leave them alone. I'm sure I'll have lots of other questions though !
