Love the smell of WD40. I use baby oil on the stainless steel cooker hood and microwave which gives a lovely shine. No babies were harmed in this process.
Love the look of granite but a friend had a worktop installed and there was a naturall 'vein' in the granite near the corner of the sink - unfortunately it just looked like a big crack radiating from the corner! Company would not replace as they said it was just a natural feature of the stone.
We've just had our kitchen done & opted for Silestone - looks like granite but is man made - so all the advantages but no unexpected veins or other flaws.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Thank you to everybody for all your very much appreciated information ,the outcome is this :::::: I have a lot of choices to make a man made green- er , granite or even wood and now I'm wondering about the sink too !
Time and time I say to myself how lucky I am to have found this so friendly forum
Our kitchen top is black granite and I loath it! Nightmare to keep clean and shows every smudge or drop of water. The house was designed by two brothers and it is very 'male' in its design I feel. I'd go for granite again but only if it was in a soft colour. John Lewis have some lovely toffee coloured worktops and a really nice pinky one - pink sounds awful and doesn't do it justice but it really is lovely.

I just knew when I saw Edd's name here it would be a funny
Granted he has made a valued point earlier.
I use WD40 for a nice shine on motorbikes, I'm sensitive to it though and gives me an itchy rash, so not for my kitchen surfaces
I heard a while back there was a fad of builders spraying WD40 on their bodies, claiming it was good for back and joint pain.

Just as well you added that last bit LesleyK
Otherwise it could have altered my thread to something else

Henna at least WD 40 would help to crank up those builders joints , bet they got a good start

Here's the offending black granite worktop - not my first choice! Smudge city!
