Daphnes - do they self seed?

I have a daphne Jacqueline Postil - quite big and over 10 years old. Yesterday I noticed a small plant growing beneath it, which at first i thought was a weed, but actually looks like a baby daphne. does anyone know if they can self seed in this way? and if it has, when is the best time to move the baby to grow it on…
