Daffodils

I was walking down the road at work today and say clumps of daffs in flower!  This is a first for me, has anyone else seen anything flowering massively out of season?!

I've never seen them flower in November.

My clematis Perle d'azur flowered in a mild January, but it didn't do it any good, very weak the following summer.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

It does all depend on the variety. December flowering is quite common for some.

I know some flower early but this particular variety I saw in flower last March so I think they have become very confused!  The flowers are a lot smaller than they were 6 months ago, I wonder if they will have enough energy to flower again next spring?

  • We have daff shoots already.  Never seen them out so soon before.  I assume it's the mild weather?

  • I planted a whole host of bulbs a month or so ago and I can see green tips starting to sprout. It mush be the warmer wet weather we are having. Oddly its only those in the ground the ones I lasagne'd in pots haven't don't anything (thankfully)
