Indoor pepper Plants - Winter Care

NewBoy2NewBoy2 Posts: 1,813

I have 5 pepper plants that I inherited and they have now all stopped producing peppers

The leaves are slightly folded over and not that healthy looking

I must of had about 8 of all 5 so not very good

? Is it worth keeping them over the winter and if so what do I do to prepare them for next spring

They are so easy to grow from seed NB I dont think its worth the space to over winter. Some do, I dont.

I just buy a pepper of my choice from the supermarket or wherever you shop, take the seeds out and plant straight away in a pot, about 3 to each. They need warmth to start, I have never had a propagator or heat pad, kitchen windowsill is fine.

I do find they germinate better from fresh seed, so I dont save now.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

On balance, not worth the effort, NewBoy. They would need serious light and warmth just to maintain them with no real guarantee of decent results. Better to start again next year via either seeds or seedlings.
