What's left for us to grow?
Talk of aconitum being something we should not grow has made me think. off the top of my head the following pose a threat to our well being too.
daffodils, lily of the valley, euphorbias, runner beans(eaten raw), grapes (toxic to dogs) , potatoes.....avoid any green parts, rhubarb, yews, hyacinths,,laburnum, golden privet, lilies, datura, rhododendron, foxgloves.......oh dear, I think even my beloved hellebores are potentially injurious to my health
I'm sure there are many, many more plants we should not grow in our gardens. but let's get rid of all these threats. Not much to garden with though

I should be dead with all those listed there
What is the connection of your forum name Verdun? I have noticed with the WW1 interest at the moment there was a big battle at Verdun. Tick me off if I am being too nosy
All those on your list are the things I can grow without fear of the deer munching them
. Seems they know they are not good for them too.
..some of these are quite nice... ..plenty to choose from...
If you w ant a list of poisonous plants look at this website

Well my garden is choc-a-block with foxgloves. The dogs ignore them, am I overreacting to the aconitum threat?
*sigh*
Roses aren't poisonous, you can eat the petals, sugar frost them for decorating cakes and make rose hip syrup. Nasturtiums are lovely in salad, flowers and leaves. There are lots of edible flowers you can use in cooking decoration. I think pansies and calendulas are edible.
Just read that Clematis and Delphiniums are toxic as well, mind you, perhaps they all account for how I am, just a bit pickled!
I have never worn gloves to prune a clematis, or the Aconitum,
I've used rose petals, violets and primroses frosted as cake decorations. I do eat my runner beans raw, what are they supposed to do to you? Many other veggies as well when I had a veggie garden. Used to get back from milking, walk along my path picking peas, beans, cabbage, salad stuff.......etc .as I went. Most didn't make it to the pan
. I managed a small space for runners, peas, tomatoes, lettuce, spring onions this year in my flower borders, none of the peas got as far as the kitchen though I managed to restrain myself on the runners but that was because there were rather a lot
