My sad Rosemary plant :(

in Plants
Hi guys! Can someone help diagnose what's wrong, if anything, with my little rosemary plant? I bought it from a local shop at the same sort of size way back in August, and the leaves seem to brown off and drop. So it hasn't really grown and the leaves are quite peaky.
The soil I used was expandable stuff you add water to. If that's the problem, how can I repot it into nicer soil without it being too stressed?

Thank you! It's just looking so sad, if I was to repot it, can I shake some of the expandable compost off without damaging the poor little mite? If I was to give it a layer of compost will it improve slightly over the winter?
Hi BK, I have to agree with you, it looks sad. It may be past the point of no return
I don't know what expandable compost is but you need something gritty and keep it fairly dry through the winter.

Bitter, your plant seems to be ok but it has 2 longer stems than the rest ,in my g/h they would become cuttings in ordinary compost plenty of light, and rain water only ,if you cant find any come to Norfolk weve got loads u can have ,iv just done 20 and they are sitting pretty in the cold frame all well. come March/April into the garden, and a swill of Comfry ,good luck.
Shall I repot it, cut it right down, shelter it and hope for the best?
HAHA Who kills a rosemary plant? I always thought they were hardy plants! I'd love to come to norfolk, but it's a bit of a journey from Southampton, lol! Thank you for the offer though
They're not that hardy BK, they don't like our cold and wet mix

Ideal mix for rosemary is sharp sand and grit, with about 25% compost and full sun even in winter. Wouldn't agree with nut on hardiness, if the drainage is right mine have been down to -12 to -15 C and they are huge, 3ft plus.
