..the thing is...after we have sold up, or passed on, someone else will move in and take over our plots..maybe they liked the house more than the garden, which they will proceed to dig up... non-gardeners with no interest other than having a nice big lawn... ...if during the summer they might see some patches of blue flowers.... no idea what they are, just get rid...yank off the flowers, dig up the clumps...boring old things.. ...if during the winter they will find buried roots in clumps...no idea what they are either, just get them out and away they go... ...forums and t.v. programmes should try to educate people, even if it's only in passing, to the casual viewer... ..at least....try...
I knew, but have now been reminded, that aconitums were very poisonous. A great many of this current young generation will know too - it features prominantly in Harry Potter. Now if only I could find a crumpled horn snorkak !!
OK guys - its question time. Do I sow these Aconitum seeds or not? Please be honest, bearing in mind Mrs F has already told me I'm not allowed to. I have two dogs with constant access to the garden and grandchildren who visit sporadically but don't go into the garden due to the fact they don't like dogs.

Hemlock (Conium Maculatum) and Giant Hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) are two very different plants.
Hemlock is a British native plant. Giant Hogweed is an invasive introduced species. It is now illegal to plant it or sow its seeds in the wild.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

I sowed mine Fishy, a gift from Lyn.
A few appear to have sprouted- at least I hope they're aconitum and a nearby snapdragon hasn't just vom'd in the pot
