Growing watercress and wasabi

Have grown my watercress from seed originally, but now have three large pots of the stuff by removing stems with roots and replanting .

Ready to eat in about five weeks at present .

So -so- easy ,much nicer than other greens for salad..

Wonder if anyone else has had the same experience.

Also growing Wasabi in pots, but this will take a couple of years before harvest.

You just can not overwater either.

Do you grow your wasabi outside?  Is it hardy in the UK?

I've been growing watercress in pots in deepish water. Do you do this? How often do you change the water?image

  • The wasabi has been outside since march we had a strong frost last night so will wait and see.

Believe in Japan in grows in mountain streams.so would guess it should be ok.

The instructions that came with the plants did not say protect from frost,

The water cress is in deep pots on a saucer which is always kept as full of water as possible but I never change it and have had no problems.

I find after a dozen or so harvests in the summer, that the cress wants to set seed , which can be left if you want even more.Stems with loads of roots obviates the need to sow again.

    Hope this helps
