  • Hi Vic, image

Have a look here to get some ideas of what's available http://www.potashnursery.co.uk/acatalog/hardy.html

My personal favourites are the pale and elegant Hawkshead and Greyrigg, but you may prefer some of the more colourful ones.

Thankyou dove. There are some real beauties there. I may have to flip a coin to decide!!

Be careful with hawkshead's vic, they do grow very big, the guide says 4-5 ft, trust me if conditions are good they do get bigger and they are as wide as they are tall. Pretty if you have the space, I do and they look good, but they can be a brute if your'e unprepared.

I grow several hardy Fushias. Mrs Popple is a good grower with medium large flowers. I also have a good run of Genii as an edging. it's about 18 inches tall with lovely coloured leaves yellow to light green, small flowers. Thanks for the good news re Hawkshead Dave, I want them to grow biggish the flowers are pure white and light up the darkish area where they are planted. Mine are proving slow to establish and only reach 2 feet tall.

all are cut back to maybe 3-4 inches in mid spring here in the NE

Oooh, Dove, thank you for posting that link. I obviously can't buy any from here, but has been a feast for my eyes, can hardly believe there are so many beautiful varieties of fuchsias! Am green with envy at your choice!imageimage

Thankyou so much for your advice. Hopefully by this time next year my garden will be brimming with beautiful plants. I have alot of bare patches to fill!! No doubt my hubby will be sick of the sight of garden centres by the time ive finished. What do you all think of hellebores? There were quite a few here when we moved in. I didnt know what they were at 1st.
