richondac - I do that too. I now try and make a list of what is going where especially if something else has to be moved in the process.

Only problem is - I can never find the list imageimage

I took a load of cuttings of different erisimums and thin leaved penstemons, blue and red. Didn't label all of them, thought it was obvious at the time. Now I don't know what is what!

I often line up pots of babies and just label the one at the front, the ones behind are obviously all the same. Then along come more plants and everything gets shifted up, the lines aren't lines any more and all order is gone. Loads of 'could be anythings', often plants not previously grown, no idea what's what.

    Do I ever learn?

Nutcutlet I promised myself I wouldn't do that this year.

Lasted about a month before I'd forgotten what was in which pot image

  • took red and black current cuttings on our works allotment,

potted them up the next autumn into separate pots with each type on different side of a raised bed- so I knew what was where as I was planning to sell them in the spring.

took a week off work and came down the next week to find my colleague had planted the lot (30 of each variety) in 6 foot raised bed (where I was planning - and was on the work plan to - plant garlic!!) she had no idea which was which, so now (after un-planting and re-potting) I have to wait till next year to see what coloured berries I get!

I sowed parsnips on the allotment this year, they took so long to germinate, the area was soon covered in weeds.

Not having grown parsnips before, thought one of the unidentfied weeds were parsnip seedlings,so for several weeks cultivated weeds until another allotmenteer pointed out my error, I'd pulled up the parsnips thinking they were weedsimage
