Ive just left mine in the garden for a few years now, at least one hard winter and one mild wet one. So far they have been OK. I haven't the capacity to put everything under cover so I'm afraid they are going to have to take their chances. Fingers crossed.
I have one potted agapanthus that I take into a cold GH but this year it started to get seed heads before I took it in which I have cut off and am wondering as they are still green will they ripen and if they do how would be the best way to try and get plants from them has anybody done it.
They are best when they ripen on the plant, but can be stored in a paperbag, as a whole seedhead, and left to ripen. The seed will be black if you are lucky.
Thank you W W I have just been up to look at them and sadly I don't think they are swollen enough to have big enough seeds in them so maybe next year ay Never mind

Ww, thanks for the advice and the compliments. I had never thought of using a square pot to lessen the risk of it being blown over - good one!
I also have some in a curved rim pot which will be b****** to get out.... not such a good one

I get much more luck with seeds and seedlings from my bog-standard blues (hardy) than I do from my posh ones.
