Going to save carrots in sand filled boxes this year.
Do you leave some greenery on them or cut back to the Carrot?
Barney I'd remove the leaves and just leave about 1/2 " above the crown.
Cut the greenery back to just above the top of the carrot. Don't cut into the carrot.
Carrots can be left to overwinter in the ground - protect from hard frost with some straw under a net.
Storing in sand can result in tough dry carrots.
Thank you all. Fingers crossed.
