Border design ideas

I'm looking for a bit of inspiration so thought i'd see what you all thought.

I've just cleared a 15ft x 5ft North facing border. At the back is going to be 4 x JC Van Tol Standard holly bushes. The front of the border is my lawn. My idea is a line of Mahonia Soft Caress, a line of Leucothoe Red Lips with nice lillies and the odd alium growing in between. Keeping it quite formal but easy to maintain.

I'm open to ideas to completely change everything apart from the holly bushes, what would you do/plant?
