Should I leave my onions

Just that really, I have some onions that were planted in the Spring. They have grown to about the size of golf balls, a complete fail.

They are now re-sprouting, I am guessing that they will turn to seed before they put on any weight, so should I pull them up or leave them?

Thanks

Chris

My onions were very disappointing this year - the first time in years that I have had such a small crop.  I would dig them up and use what you can and hope for better next year.

What kind of onions are they? My electric red onions were monsters this year making shop brought look very pathetic but I'm just wondering how big yours should have grown before we strike them as a poor lot.

  • They were Sturon I think.

I'm going to pull them at the weekend & get my broad beans in. Aquadulce usually do well for me.

I shall use the onions for making a "quantity" of curry sauce base & freeze it
