What creature is creating the little piles in this photo?
Any idea? Several of them in this area. Under the stone chippings is errocaceous compost.

it does look like that, i agree, but i wonder if it's something else. I should have also said that there is weed control fabric between the stones and the compost and this is really new, so why would earthworms only now start doing this but not the last few years?
Looks like worm casts to me too.

ok, thanks all. I prefer it to cat muck...
worms are very happy between weed fabric and stones. I have my babies standing on that and am forever tipping out pots and finding a large worm in residence.
I've got the seed pots up on a metal grid, I thought the churning might take all the seeds to the bottom of the pots
Worms can get into a pot when It's standing flat on concrete as well.
