I have a golden bamboo growing in a huge pot. Was advised to keep it in the pot by the garden centre and not to trust planting even though it's meant to be clumping!! It just needs a bit of maintenance and regular watering. It provides us with a good screen from some overlooking windows at 8 /9 feet tall but probably won't get to full height in a pot.
