Preventing root growth/ spread

Hi all, I am about to plant Bamboo ( Phyllostachys nigra) I wonder if anyone has an idea what product will prevent roots spreading out into the flower boarder as I wish to contain it's spread to about one Meter diameter.
Any ideas please?

High Steve you might want to email this chap for info on root bags often used for Fig root restricting, http://www.readsnursery.co.uk/fig-trees-for-gardens-and-greenhouses/
as you can see it also has the slab way that Monty used ,when you log on there is a box for questions he,s very helpful, his name is Stephen, Good luck Steve
Nigra isn't anything like as vigorous as Aurea, but if you want to play safe you could set 9" (225mm) paving slabs on edge, finishing just below ground level. They will help contain the roots and shoots.
