Hi what distance is it safe to light a bonfire from Bee Hives at this time of year

Personally I wouldn't bother - any smoke around them in a steady quantity will put the colony under additional,stress. This will be make the bees gorage on the winter honey supply and could lead to a very annoyed colony indeed. I would simply take the like and compost it!!
20 - 30 ft. Even if it's cool, be safe as running from a beehive isn't fun, I've done it in a clients garden, trust me, it hurts!
