If you have a load of leaves and lots of grass cuttings, mix them together for high speed leaf mold in a separate container (black bin liners with holes in them), add some water and wait a year or two.
As long as it's a mix of all sorts of garden and kitchen waste and preferably stable waste too, not too much of any one thing at a time, you shouldn't have too much of a problem. I level it out as I go and make sure it's well pushed down round the edges. Once it's really, really full put the lid on and start another, leaving the first one to get on with things. And yes mine are all on soil which gives them a flying start anyway
I think you just stir it (you can buy a stirring thing for them) rather than 'turn it' top to bottom. The idea is that when the compost is made you just shovel it out of the bottom and use it.
Never tried it as we've always had square wooden bins, but I think that's the theory.

Hi All,many thanks,i think i,ll give the freeby Darlek a go while i sort out a proper compost place i know what im doing then,Cheers all from Sunny Munds
Alan, you don't need to be so vigorous in the stirring; just move the stuff a bit once every 2 weeks to make sure there is air in there - if you mix the type of material as you put it in (e.g. grass cuttings with balled up sheets of newspaper) it won't require stirring like it's a christmas pud (omg, I used the C word)
