I had pasqueflowers in bloom a few weeks ago ( they flower at Easter ) a Hellebore with two or three flowers, and my Dutch Iris are 6" tall image

It's ok Connie - they'll slow down as it gets colder and bloom when they're meant to - it's quite common if it's a mild autumn and they're planted early. Same thing happened last year because the whole winter was so mild  image

The bonkers weather here in the Fens meant I was cutting back the yellow flowered Buddlea outside the fence and nearly got blown down the road.image

Planted Garlic "Marco" on 18th October. Green shoots up on 28th

  • I haven't been gardening long enough to spot a pattern but last year my Dutch iris and Allium Sphaerocephalon (sp?) came up around this time as they have done this year but they didn't flower until the proper time.

Its funny though as those alliums are a later flowering type so despite coming up first were among the last to flowerimage

Edit: actually the iris might be reticulata...

Funny you should say that VS I planted a load of Alliums in early October and they have sprouted.  I think I may have overdone the Alliums.  I ordered a load at BBC Gardeners world and then couldnt resist the offer in the mag.  Hope the whole garden doesnt smell of onions.

I think they only smell when they are crushed or broken - it'll be great to see everyones allium displays next year - I got the offer too even though I have loads already - they are such a great flower to have before summer and the bees love themimage

This summer I had a workman in to replace my fence and he was stood in my alliums. I made a remark about the nice chemical smell of the paint and he said 'All I could smell was your neighbour frying onions!'image

Just in from the garden on a warm sunny 1st November, Bush Fuchsia still in full bloom with the insects making hay while the sun shines. Noticed something odd under an outside bench I had cleaned and put my Strawberries in pots away for the winter, some have flowers on and one a ripening fruit, it is indeed barmy weather in both meanings of the word.

Getting ready for a family party now, may be slightly the worse for wear when I get home.
