buddleia

I am growing a young buddleia in a pot when is the best time to prune it ?

    Spring. If it's a bit top heavy , you cold take about 1/3 off now, then cut hard in March.

    Hi Debbie, are you growing one of the dwarf ones which are designed for pot growing or is it just a standard buddleia but a young plant? Pruning is done in late winter/early spring as they flower on the new growth made. If it's just a cutting from last year you won't need to do much to it until it's grown on a bit. Mine aren't very big yet but I'd expect them to be reasonable size plants next spring/summer, and would need pruning the following year. image
