    Maybe it's a freak leek-carrot hybrid! (J/K)

    Could it be parsley?

    The leaves look like carrot.

Did you use a lot of muck?

  • No I thought it might be poisonous.

  • The bed had previously been a compost heap.

  • Maybe. They were "rainbow" variety so I suppose that would explain the colour. The top of the greenery does look carroty but the the thick green stem doesn't look like anything I've seen before.

If it's just the one and you're doubtful then compost it.

But as far as I know nothing tastes and smells like a carrot except a carrot

  • Yep, forked white carrot from the rainbow mix I reckon.  Nut is right - if it smell like a carrot, that is what it is. image

Could it be Hamburg Parsley, do the leaves smell of Parsley if you crush them?
