Aster king george questions

Hi, i bought 5 of these earlier this year, they were reccommended for a late summer border.  They have flowered and flowered and are still going.  However, i really dont like its habit.  It is described as a bushy upright perennial, but i have found its quite long stems lie on the ground, making a hole in the middle with flowers round the outside.  Not a good look.

should i cut all the stems after flowering and maybe this wont happen again, or is it just the habit of the plant?

I dont think its been affected by weather, it has been like that since planted, and we havent really had any bad weather yet.

You could try giving it the 'Chelsea chop' next year

Unfortunately many of the taller Asters do need staking or else they flop.

How can you lie there and think of England
When you don't even know who's in the team

Hmm its not like it grew upwards and then flopped, it grew flat.  I will try a chop definitely.  Everything taller and more delicate like delphiniums are still upright, so its not the conditions.

Looking at pics of this on the internet, does look like its supposed to be upright!  So chopping and staking then.  Ok.
