    When I was cutting back my Lavender at the start of October there was a Hummingbird Hawk Moth buzzing around.

    That was an incredible sight

    Fairygirl - were you afraid of moths? Mrs F is...she screams.

    Mattbeer - they are quite startling in broad daylight aren't they.

    I used to go absolutely hysterical over moths but when I had my first baby I made up my mind to cure myself of the phobia.  I started very slowly but did get over it and now, but only over the past few years I can catch them and hold them.

    What I have never been able to get over is crane flys, if there is one in the house I wont go in that room until I see it caught then put outside. Silly really, but there we are.

    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

    It was the first I had ever seen, I didnt know what it was. I assumed it was a real Hummingbird until my neighbor told me what it was.
