melianthus major

I am in Dorset. Can I leave my Melianthus ,which is in a S. facing bed with a greenhouse behind it , in place and protect it with a tent of fleece or should I pot it up and put it in the g/house for the winter.? Should I reduce the foliage ? It was planted this spring and is about 3ft high
