Sad Christmas Roses

Hi Can anyone out there help me with a problem with my Christmas Roses.

I moved them earlier this year and the smaller of the 2 has a lot of buds, but the large one only seems to have foliage any suggestions

They are notorious for hating being moved! Be patient I'm sure they will settle in, although the only specimens of this plant I have seen seemed to be just about clinging on, rather than thriving. I get the impression they are fussy things, and therefore stick to Helleborus orientalis myself!

  • I fully agree Will - my experiences lead me to also conclude that they are indeed fussy little beggars! image

Lots and lots of leafmould and other organic matter, and shade.

Mine are in pots, in the shade, but very sad.  I agree about sticking to the orientalsimage

  • Hi all

Thanks for the tips I think I must have tempremental ones as they have been moved four times now and used to bloom like mad everytime, so maybe this time they are on strike

Maybe they're just having a rest.  It's been an odd year.  One of mine flowered in August image

  • As I said mine are tempremental the small one has loads of buds just waiting to pop open and for the last few years they have flowered from October right through to April
