Chilli help needed !

I have never grown chillies before but a neighbour gave me some plants which are growing successfully in my unheated greenhouse.  I have 2 varieties Jalapeno & Cobra, which have fruited very well but show no signs at all of reddening off. As autumn is drawing in can I cut off the fruit and dry indoors - if so how ?  Or  just hope for the best over the next couple of weeks, I live in N. Yorks so nights are drawing in.

All advice most welcomed

It's warmth rather than sunlight that chillies need to ripen, so can you bring the pots indoors to a bright windowsill in the house?

Mine changed colour quite quickly when I did that image

They will probably ripen off the plant, in the house, if it is impractical to take the plants indoors.
  • Thank you everyone - um...indoor space a little limited they are biggish plants, there's always upstairs !  I will hope Philippa's advice will do. Another week in the greenhouse and wait for the tinge then into the airing cupboard

As always good advice - L
