pruning overgrown roses
Hello all. Iam new on this forum and I have a question regarding my roses. Some of them have grown far to tall and I would reduce them into shorter, more prolific blooming plants. For example, my Gertrude Jekyll is about 7,5 ft tall and I would like to reduce her to 4 ft. How and when should I prune? I hope someone of you is able to explain this in a simpel way, so even I can understand how to do this.

It sounds like you have short climbers. To keep them shorter you need to prune them as though they were bush roses, by hard pruning in spring.
Have a look at the youtube video below, it's easy to follow and really quite simple.
Thanks for the reply. I will give it a try next year.
