Begonias
My son has some homework which he is really struggling with and I haven't been able to find any answers on line. He has to pretend to be a plant doctor and solve some problems. Prolem No 1 is as follows - my begonia has been in the same spot for many years but this year is looking very poor and has not produced any flowers, the leaves also look poor, but have not discoloured.
If anyone can help we would be massively grateful - I have 3 more questions!

well if it has been out side all year that is surprising as they don't do cold very well, but if it has been in a pot for sometime it will need replacement soil as it needs nutrients and the soil may well be lacking this if you have not been feeding it ,either with a tomato feed or spray foliage feed and I myself feed my plants now with garlic water feed as this seems to help a lot in prevention and healing properties .

What type of begonia is it fibrous or tuberous? Or is this a question set by a teacher who knows nothing about gardening?
I reckon its a question to see if the child understands that plants need food just as animals do. Perhaps in class they're doing something around the nitrogen and carbon cycles. Just guessing.
The teacher that set the question obviously doesnt know a lot or she wouldnt have chosen the begonia as the plant in question.
